Couture Creations DT Reveal | Special Occasions Decorative Embellished Candle

Hi everyone and welcome to my post today which is a Decorative Embellished Candle that would be perfect as a Gift or Special Occasion Table Setting.  The products I have used just happen to be from the new Special Occasions collection from Couture Creations.  This collection would also make the most beautiful Invitations for a Wedding, Engagement, Christening, Anniversary or Special Birthday.

I have used a white candle that I purchased from Target, however any pillar candle in white or cream would work just as well.

I started by choosing the papers, foil and cutting dies that worked together to create a simple and elegant design.  I added Diecut’N Bond to the back of the Silver Damask Paper before diecutting it with the Swirling Banners Die.  The addition of the Diecut’N Bond makes assembly simpler and easier, and helps keep the intricate border in place.

I prefer to use Embossing, Foil & Glitter Tape to adhere the layers that don’t have the Diecut’N Bond.  I also find that adhering each layer separately prevents buckling – which will occur if the layers are stuck together prior to adding them to the Candle.

I foiled two identical embellishments with Matte Gold Foil and a limited release Hot Foil Stamp to hide the join in the band layers.  If you would like to purchase this Hot Foil Stamp which is part of a three piece set please contact your local Couture Creations Stockist.

I added Adhesive Pearls to the two embellishments before adhering them together with the Embossing, Foil & Glitter Tape – making them easier to glue to the Candle in the next step.

Helmar 450 Glue is super strong and takes some time to dry, allowing for a bit of movement to get embellishments into the perfect spot before they dry.  This benefit also requires some patience as the creation process really needs to stop until the 450 Glue is dry before moving the Candle around.

Whilst waiting for the Glue to dry the Butterfly layers could be assembled using 3D Glue Spots and Foam Tape.  The Foam Tape is between the solid layers and the 3D Glue Spots are the best choice for sticking the Butterfly to the Candle.  There are two solid layers and one lace layer to the Butterfly – using the same papers as in the other elements of the Candle.

It was really exciting as the elements came together and the finished Candle took shape – just the drying Glue was holding up the process.

Couture Creations DT Reveal | Seaside & Me Card with Custom Coloured Hot Foiling

Hi everyone and welcome to my post today which is a Card I have created with the Seaside & Me collection and Custom Coloured Hot Foiling.

I have used a 5″x7″ Card as the base onto which I have layered scrap papers and Ephemera pieces that I have left from several other Seaside & Me projects.

The feature of this card is the Hot Foiled Chipboard Sentiment that is featured in the video below.  I have layered Vintage Gold Matte and Transparent Blue Hot Foils on the Chipboard Sentiment to get a custom Aqua colour to match the ribbon on the card.  NOTE: The top layer must be transparent for this technique to work!

I have used a layered foiling technique on the Starfish that I will share in a future post and video.

I have distressed all of the layers on the card, except the starfish and the Chipboard Sentiment.  I have also used Foam Tape between many of the layers to get a more dimensional finish to the card.

We would love to see what Custom Coloured Foiling you come up with…..

Couture Creations DT Reveal | Seaside & Me Inchie Card with Hot Foiling

Hi everyone and welcome to my post today which is an Inchie Card I have created with the Seaside & Me collection and Hot Foiling.  I especially love my card today as I have used a background Hot Foil Stamp to create the feature squares on my card.

The dimensions of the card layers are:

  • Base – Square Card Base from CO724846 Cream Square Card & Envelope Set
  • Layer 1 – 5 1/8″ square of Seaside & Me Patterned Paper #5
  • Layer 2 – 5″ square of Seaside & Me Patterned Paper #2
  • Inchie Base – 1 3/8″ squares of Seaside & Me Patterned Paper #12
  • Inchie Layer 1 – 1 1/8″ squares of Seaside & Me Patterned Paper #5 raised on foam tape
  • Inchie Top Layer – 1″ squares of Square Card Base Hot Foiled using transparent blue in CO726218 Seaside & Me Heat Activated Foil Pack using CO726187 Seaside & Me Swirling Seas Hot Foil Stamp

I find that cutting the 1″ squares of card before foiling them helps to maintain the random nature of the Inchie backgrounds.  And I also know that I will have enough card for all nine, as sometimes the best planned piece of cardstock can be just short.

I like to apply the tape and foam to the Inchie layers and assemble them prior to adding any embellishments – so that I can audition the layout of my card as I create each element.

The crab and little shells are all fussy-cut from the papers in the CO726151 Seaside & Me 6×6 Paper Pad, as the scale is more fitting to and Inchie card than the elements on the 12×12 patterned papers.

I have used the copper foil from the CO726218 Seaside & Me Heat Activated Foil Pack with the CO724184 Seaside & Me By The Seashore Hot Foil Stamp and a spare Square Cream Card Base to create a custom foiled cardstock that I then fussy-cut the shells from.

I used and embossing tool and foam mat to shape the Crab, Shells and Starfish that I fussy-cut from papers in the 6×6 Seaside & Me Paper Pad.

I love using the CO726188 Seaside & Me Chipboard Sentiments Set, and with a little effort they can be transformed in so many ways.  This time I started by using a brown pen to colour the engraved letters on the two sentiments I intended on using.

I have then Hot Foiled them with CO725351 Silver Matte Hot Foil to disguise the grey of the Chipboard – bear with me there is a method in my madness.

And finally I have Hot Foiled the Chipboard Sentiments with the transparent blue in CO726218 Seaside & Me Heat Activated Foil Pack – which doesn’t look as nice when foiled directly over the grey Chipboard.

The results speak for themselves with a crisp brown lettering and the same beautiful blue foil as the Inchie squares.
