Couture Creations DT Reveal | Highland Christmas Twisted Easel Card

Hi and welcome to my post today which is a Twisted Easel Card I have created with the new Highland Christmas collection designed by Sue Smyth.  I have also created a pair of Foamiran Flowers especially for this card, on which I have edged the petals with Red Glitzin Glamour Glitter Glue.

I started my card by folding the cardbase in half on the fold line and then folding the front inwards in half diagonally so that the bottom right corner meets the top of the centrefold.  I then layered the sections using the Highland Christmas patterned papers – being sure to fussy-cut around the cottage.

Cutting instructions:

  • Easel Base – Red Tartan – 5”x5” – cut diagonally
  • Easel Feature – Scene – 4¾”x4¾” – cut diagonally fussy-cut around cottage
  • Base Square – Red Tartan – 5⅛”x5⅛”
  • Base Triangles – Scene and Snowflakes – 4⅞”x4⅞” – cut diagonally
  • Back of Easel – Snowflakes – 5”x5” – cut diagonally

The bow tucked under the Foamiran Flowers is fussy-cut from patterned paper and stuck in place with the rest of the elements in the floral cluster with the Helmar 450 Glue.  I did hold the elements in place for a minute or two to make sure they stayed together nice and tight.

The front triangle on the bottom layer holds the Easel in position, which is achieved with the help of Foam Tape.

Couture Creations products I have used:

  • CO726275 Highland Christmas 12×12 Doublesided Paper #2
  • CO726281 Highland Christmas 12×12 Doublesided Paper #8

Couture Creations DT Reveal | Special Occasions Sympathy Card

Hi and welcome to my post today which is a Sympathy I have created using the recently released Special Occasions collection.

I fussy cut the flowers from one of the papers before adding the decorative pearls to the centers and applying glue dots to the back so that they were ready to add to the card at the end.

One of my favourite Hot Foiling techniques is to fussy-cut the Hot Foiled Sentiment and then raise it on foam tape.  The fussy-cutting doesn’t have to be perfect, just a consistent width over the majority of the design.

I found that the Pearlised Lace needed to be cut at the ends (not wrapped to the back) and stuck with a dot of dimensional magic behind each pearl, otherwise it moved and looked messy.

The patterned papers in this collection are light weight allowing for additional layers on a card without adding excessive weight – which can lead to cards falling forward if your not careful.

Couture Creations products I have used:

  • ULT157908 Special Occasions Adhesive Pearls
  • ULT157896 Special Occasions Pearlised Lace
  • CO726385 Special Occasions Gold Vines A4 White Paper

Couture Creations DT Reveal | Nouveau Cut, Foil & Emboss Scrapbook Layout

Hi all, and welcome to my post today that includes a scrapbook layout I have created with cardstock and embellishments – and NO PATTERNED PAPER.  As an added bonus I have included a sketch with this post for all of my sketch fans out there – and yes I am listening to your requests for me to do more sketches.

I have used Nouveau Cut, Foil and Emboss Dies to create the feather, swirl and birdcage embellishments for my layout.  The pink cardstock layer has been embossed to add an extra dimension to the layers – whilst the photo mats and swirls are actually a Kraft Cardbase, because that was the colour I wanted and the Cardbase was close to hand.

I opened out the flowers and then used Pigment Powders, water and Gloss Texture Paste the colour them – before adding Aztec Gold Glitzin’ Glamour to the centres.  This technique requires quite a bit of drying time as the flowers get really wet – and they do fall apart if you play with them too much whilst they are wet.

The best way to stick layered embellishments like this is to use 3D Glue Spots as they allow you to create dimension and stick bulky items with ease.  I like to add them to the back of the embellishments before playing with the placement so that I can stick it all together as soon as I am happy – without having to muck around adding adhesives.

I foiled the Bees and the title with Pale Gold Foil, which I love so much that I have now purchased three rolls – it just goes with any theme and all of my favourite ranges this year.

Last but not least I have my sketch for you and I would love to see your take on it, and welcome to share a picture or link in the comments.
