DT Reveal – Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – May 2017 – Boat Captain

I am back today to share my May DT layout for the Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – which is to create a layout about a Pet or Toy.  I have used the Pawfect collection from Kaisercraft which we stock at Scrapbook Fantasies.

I have used Lindy’s Stamp Gang Mists to create a watery background, with touches of Violet just to show that our beautiful little grey human (Madeline) is a girl.  Madeline loves her boats, and is a bit protective of them when they return home each time.

So that is my take on the challenge and now it is your turn to create a Pet or Toy layout for the May Challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge.

Happy Creating and have a wonderful day

DT Reveal – Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – Easter

I am back today to share my April DT layout for the Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – which is to create an Easter or Spring layout.  I have used the awesome Easter collection that is instore at Scrapbook Fantasies.

I did lots of fussy cutting from the papers, including the title – made some banners and did a bit of mist flicking on the background.  The biggest challenge was finding some Easter photographs that I hadn’t scrapbooked already.

So that is my take on the challenge and now it is your turn to create an Easter or Spring layout for the April Challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge.

Happy Creating and have a wonderful day

September DT Reveal for Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – “Bliss”

afsc-september-2016-alicia-redshaw

I am back today to share my September DT layout for the Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – which is to create with Red.  I haven’t used any patterned papers, just cardstock and embellishments.

afsc-september-2016-alicia-redshaw2

The title is a Heidi Swapp die and red cardstock, over a feather left over from my Retreat pack from the Scrapbook Fantasies Winter 2016 Retreat.  The glitter on the background is still hanging around in my studio, appearing on random projects and children – very sticky and loaded with static.

afsc-september-2016-alicia-redshaw4

The gorgeous flowers are from the Colour Me Happy range from Cocoa Vanilla Studio, and along with some silver thread, enamel accents, that glitter and a few other touches make for a pretty cluster of embellishments.

afsc-september-2016-alicia-redshaw3

The butterfly template I have used on the background with Lindy’s Stamp Gang Mist is one of the most well used ones in my collection – a definite favourite.

Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – November 2015

The challenge this month over at AFSC (Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge) is to:

Close your eyes and blindly grab 3 items from your stash and incorporate it into a layout. You may use other items, and you may re-colour your items, but incorporate all 3 items into the layout.

AFSC-november-2015-alicia-redshaw

I followed the instructions and as my desk was pretty spot on organised at the time everything seemed to be too easy – yes too easy.  So I got thinking and when I was at work next I spread out a kit from all of my classes from the last few months (well what I still had kits for anyway) – and then I closed my eyes and randomly chose three kits.  I was pretty stumped with the results, as they really didn’t go together and the only similarity was they all had some kind of cream colour in them – what had I done!

The kits and the classes they were for…

AFSC-november-2015-alicia-redshaw-iscrapbooking-class-39-2015-alicia-redshawAFSC-november-2015-alicia-redshaw-gscrapbooking-class-30-2015-alicia-redshawAFSC-november-2015-alicia-redshaw-hscrapbooking-class-36-2015-alicia-redshaw

I knew I had to treat all of those miss-matched pieces as I would a pile of scraps, so dragged out my Card Creations Butterfly Die and made a million (or what seemed like a million) Butterflies.

AFSC-november-2015-alicia-redshaw-b

I put the Butterflies on in a grid patterned of alternating inches, then flicked over some co-ordinating mists and Golden Titanium White High Flow Acrylic (as one kit included a bit of white too).

AFSC-november-2015-alicia-redshaw-f

A bit more die-cutting later and I had plenty of embellishments  for my layout, without it being too overcrowded and mish-mashy, even though I had all of that stuff that didn’t really match in the first place.

AFSC-november-2015-alicia-redshaw-e AFSC-november-2015-alicia-redshaw-c

So now that I have shared my creation with the November AFSC Challenge it is your turn….

AFSC Sketch Challenge – July 2014

AFSC Sketch Challenge - July 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

I have created this layout using the July Sketch Challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge (AFSC), and boy did I have some serious Mixed Media fun.

AFSC Sketch Challenge - July 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

I diecut the Cogs from chipboard before applying the Flat Shot/Clear Gesso mixture randomly, drying with a heat tool and then randomly applying (and heat setting) the Queen Sheba’s Silver and Midnight Gold Embossing Powders using the Versamark ink as an adhesive.

AFSC Sketch Challenge - July 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

I randomly applied swipes of the Magicals and the Golden Heavy Body Acrylic to the layout and layers once everything was put together.

AFSC Sketch Challenge - July 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

I used the circles template, Versamark Ink and Midnight Pewter Obsidian Embossing Powder to create the glossy/pearly spots on the background.

AFSC Sketch Challenge - July 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

Some of the other techniques I applied to this Mixed Media layout are distressing and inking the edges, misting and flicking the Lindy’s Starburst, fussy cutting page elements, stamping with the Newsprint stamp and Silver ink, collaging Tissue Wrap with Matte Medium and dimensional layering with foam adhesive.

AFSC Sketch Challenge - July 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

The photograph is of Milton playing the Cornet with the Gladstone Municipal Band after the Main Service at Anzac Day this year.  He had a very full day starting with singing (with school) at the Dawn Service followed by marching in two parades (Boyne Island and Gladstone) with the Band.  After each Parade there is a Service where they play the Anthems and Hymns, and then give a short concert style performance for anyone still in the Park.  The band plays some wonderful old tunes in these little concerts, many of which are favourites of the Veterans from their younger days.

AFSC Sketch Challenge - July 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

And this is the fabulous sketch for this challenge, which I urge you to create with at the AFSC Blog:

Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – Prompt – July 2014

afsc-prompt-challenge-july-2014-alicia-redshaw

The prompt challenge this month at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge (AFSC) is:

Have you ever been recognized for something? Scholarship? Award? Employee of the quarter? Fifth place winner??? Published? Scrap or art journal about it.

And I chose to create my layout about my appointment to the AFSC Design Team for 2014, along with my super talented Mum.

afsc-prompt-challenge-july-2014-alicia-redshaw-e

My background is actually the cardstock I used to misted the caps on for the Lindy’s Stamp Gang Mists used in the Limor Webber Workshops that I recently hosted at Scrapbook Fantasies.

afsc-prompt-challenge-july-2014-alicia-redshaw-d

I have added Faber Castell Gesso to my background, embellishments and flowers before giving them a bit more of a mist hit.  The Gauze (from the Chemist) has also been soaked in the different mists to co-ordinate with my layout.

afsc-prompt-challenge-july-2014-alicia-redshaw-c

I had a fabulous time creating this layout which came together really quickly once I had the initial idea to use the cardstock and print the AFSC Logo (and invitation email) instead of using a photograph.

Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge – Sketch – June 2014

AFSC Sketch - June 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

It’s sketch time again at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge (AFSC) and once again I know you will love creating with this sketch as much as I did.

AFSC Sketch - June 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

I have created these gorgeous swirls using Kaiser wooden flourishes, Versamark Ink and Lindy’s Stamp Gang Queen Sheba’s Silver Embossing Powder.  I love how the Lindy’s Powders are easy to use and provide the most lovely depth of colour.

AFSC Sketch - June 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

The photographs I have used on this layout go with the one I used on my “Listening” layout – HERE.  The journaling reads:

Noah LOVES “The BABY” or “PEANUT” as the rest of us call him/her.  Noah can’t wait to be a big BROTHER to play Lego with his new sibling – who he hopes will have a name from NINJAGO!

If you don’t know about Ninjago you are definitely missing out on some serious Lego fun – according to Noah!

AFSC Sketch - June 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

AFSC – Prompt Challenge – May 2014

It is time for a new Prompt Challenge at Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge (AFSC) , and I know you will love this one just as much as I did.  The Prompt title is “Oh Baby” and this is how it goes:

Scrap or art journal your baby picture.  Journal anything unusual or interesting – were you a twin? Sickly? Curious?

Now for my layout which features a photograph of my Mum and I when I was around ten months old.

Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge - May 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

I have used one of the fabulous Bo Bunny Ephemera packs (Baby Bump) that we stock at Scrapbook Fantasies.  It contains papers, ribbons, flowers, stamps and some seriously yummy embellishments.

Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge - May 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

I didn’t journal about something unusual or interesting in my photograph – I actually wrote about how much I love this photograph.  I know not everyone likes photographs of themselves (even as babies), but I truly appreciate every single photograph my parents took the time to snap of me as I grew up.  There are a few gaps in the photographic record of my life – as my parents couldn’t always afford a camera or the processing – so the photographs I do have (100’s of them to be honest) are even more precious.

Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge - May 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

My Mum isn’t so lucky as there are only a handful of photographs of her from the time of her birth until she left home in her 20’s.  There are no photographs of my Father in his childhood, well not that we have access to anyway.  I guess that is why they felt it was so important to document my life, and that of my younger brother – who is just as blessed as I am.

Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge - May 2014 - Alicia Redshaw

I couldn’t resist playing on the 70’s colours in the aged photograph, and our outfits.  And of course extra flowers were a must – we were after-all in my Grandmothers front garden.

Another Freaking Scrappy Challenge - May 2014 - Alicia RedshawMy background uses my go-to techniques of flicked mist dots, masked misting and random stamping.

Now it’s your turn to have a go at this fabulous Prompt Challenge at AFSC – so what are you waiting for go dig out those baby photographs and get creating.

I used some of the mist on my title letters to help the stark black fit into my layout too.
