Scrapbook Fantasies – Weekly Scrapbook Challenge #4/2014

This is the last of my backlog of unshared creations – well as far as I can tell at this point in time.  And I am going to warn you that there are a few photographs in this post as it is about a three page Project Life style spread.

I created this spread for the Scrapbook Fantasies Weekly Scrapbook Challenge #4/2014 – yes a couple of weeks ago I know – but better late than never.

I got out my Cuttlebug, an Embossing Folder, some mist (of course) and ink (of course) to create the cards from my scrap bag.

Scrapbook Fantasies – Weekly Scrapbook Challenge #3/2014

Not to jinx myself….but I am on a roll with the Scrapbook Fantasies Weekly Challenges for 2014.  I’m up to week 3 and I’m still creating.  Admittedly I am creating in a Project Life style for these challenges, however with a bit of procrastination they can take as long if not longer than a regular layout.

I try to limit myself to a realistic amount of time when creating these layouts, so as not to defeat the purpose of creating in this style.

These photographs are from a trip to Tannum Sands Beach quite some time ago – 2004 to be exact.  I chose to use Project Life Pocket Design H again and the Kaiser Paradiso Paper Collection.

Scrapbook Fantasies – Weekly Scrapbook Challenge #2/2014

Well I made it to and through a second Weekly Challenge with Scrapbook Fantasies.  Once again I have created a Project Life style layout, even though it is rather smallish – using a Design H pocket page.

Friends Project Life Layout - Alicia Redshaw

The photographs are of my friend Heidi and I at a convention many years ago, and my journaling reads:

“Heidi and I have been friends for many years.  We were first introduced by Joy from Bumble Bee.  These photos were taken at an EK Success Convention in Brisbane.  Being a woman in Business can sometimes be lonely, except when you have friends like Heidi.”

Of all the hats that I wear the “Businesswoman” one is the most difficult, heavy, time-consuming and yet rewarding.  I am glad of the support of my family and friends throughout the past 11 plus years of my journey as a businesswoman.

Once again I would like to encourage you all to have a go at this weeks challenge, and in case you haven’t already guessed it is to use only “Green & White”.  And yes you guessed it my friend the Madcook (Jo) provided the inspiration for this challenge.

Products used:
Patterned paper – Kaiser Key to My Heart

Lace – Basic Grey (green), Websters Pages (white)
Stamp – Kaiser Art of Life
Mist – Lindy’s Stamp Gang
Ink – Tim Holtz Distress Ink (Mowed Lawn)

Scrapbook Fantasies – Weekly Scrapbook Challenge #1/2014

Well it is the first Monday of the new year which means…the first of the Scrapbook Fantasies Weekly Scrapbook Challenges for 2014.  This is my eighth (yes 8th) year of hosting these fabulous challenges and I hope you will join in for your chance to win a voucher from Scrapbook Fantasies.

I don’t always get a chance to complete the challenges, however this year I am going to give 110% towards completing them all.  As such I have decided to open the competition up to Project Life Style Layouts, which I will be showcasing each week.

This is my layout for Week #1/2014 using a number in the title:

First Birthday Project Life Layout - Alicia Redshaw

After a conversation with my talented and inspiring friend Katrina I came to the decision last year that I wanted to use the Project Life concept to create layouts with my un-scrapped photographs from years past.  I have boxes and boxes of photographs still to be scrapbooked from the past, and I find it overwhelming thinking about getting them into our family albums.  Hence my decision to do this style of layout for the 2014 Weekly Scrapbook Challenges and hopefully empty some of those boxes.

For the title I covered a chipboard number 1 with some paper before sanding the edges – a blast from the past technique if there ever was one.

The photographs are from the 1st Birthday Party of Naomi-Jon’s best friend Christian – well Julie was my best friend so the babies didn’t have a choice.  I wanted to also document with these photographs that poor Naomi-Jon missed the party that day due to having the Chicken Pox, and also how big Milton’s feet back then (nothing has changed there).

So there you have it my first of many sets of completed photographs ready to be put into our family albums.  If you would like to complete this challenge (which I think you should) I recommend going to the Scrapbook Fantasies Blog and having a go – you can also view the layouts created by other Scrapbook Fantasies Design Team members there also.

Products used:
Patterned papers and diecuts – Kaiser Garage Days
Lettering – Kaiser (minuscule blue squares), Carolees Creations (white squares), Unknown (chipboard 1, metal look plastic letters)
Pen – Tim Holtz Distress Marker (Chipped Sapphire)
Punch – EK Success (star)
Project Life Pocket Page

Scrapbooking for Myself

I love this layout that I created using a photograph from the Scrapbook Fantasies Retreat at Agnes Water in 2006.  We are fast approaching our 11th Retreat Scrapbook Fantasies Retreat, which will be held at Kinka Beach.  The reason for this layout is that I just felt like creating, and went with the flow of my own creativity.

Retreat Layout by Alicia Redshaw

I created the background using lots of water (until it pools) and several colours of mist from Shimmerz.  Letting a piece like this dry naturally keeps the warping to a minimum, however if your in a rush use a heat tool and deal with the warping (chocolate and coffee help).

I also created a second background that I have given to a friend and will be back to share what she did with it in the next few days.  (I know I have already promised this, and this time I will be back – as the holidays and my commitments to kids programs are over for the moment)

Now for some close-ups of my layout and the flower clusters, the secret of which is pop-up glue dots and no gaps.

This little roll of cardstock (6″x1″) and some seriously strong tape (Ranger Wonder Tape) is the secret to the turn-backs on my layout looking beautiful for years to come in my albums.  It stops the turn-backs being squashed and looking beaten-up.

Once Upon A Sketch – June 2013

I had a fabulous time creating this layout of Naomi-Jon and my obsession with photographing her.  (I will return in the next few days to reveal where and when I created this layout, and with whom)  I have used the Once Upon A Sketch June sketch created by the fabulously talented Nadia Cannizzo.  I have used a tonne of Prima flowers as usual with a bit of mixed media goodness on the background.

Our Precious Girl by Alicia Redshaw

I have turned the sketch on its side to start with and created a mat for my main background (as I usually do).  The background has some mist droplets and splats of Distress Stain.  I have also coloured the Chipboard with Tarnished Brass Distress Stain, before adding some mist droplets.

Our Precious Girl by Alicia Redshaw

I have hidden some twine under my flower clusters so that it just peaks out in loose random loops.  For a softer finish I have used Prima Chalk Edger in Shabby Tote, instead of my usual Versacolor Pinecone.

Our Precious Girl by Alicia Redshaw

My journaling reads:  “Having such a beautiful daughter has lead to my most precious and addictive guilty pleasure of photographing every moment of her precious life.  She doesn’t mind as she shares my second guilty pleasure of Scrapbooking girly style layouts.  Which requires many many beautiful girly photographs of…our precious Naomi-Jon.”

My Mum has also created a layout, of my youngest son, with this sketch which you can see here.
