What happened in November
By Alicia.R. | December 5, 2011
I thought I should put together a bit of an update on what happened in November, since I had a bit of a blogging break.
Mum had the tumour removed from her leg and a large dual skin graft left in it’s place. We then received the good news that they got all of the cancer and she is on the mend. She has her next skin cancer scan in February and until then she is happy to be cancer free.
Milton had his braces removed after nearly two and half years, and he looks fantastic. He is pleased to have them off and is wearing his retainer diligently to keep his fabulous new smile.
Milton turned 14 and received a drum kit from us as his gift. He is quite good at playing the drums and likes to show-off all the time.
Noah kept developing in leaps and bounds with some serious communication and social improvements.
Naomi-Jon enjoyed the easing of her school workload and the impending end of the school year.
Quentin spent most of the month being a Superintendent which was good for his stress levels most of the time. He did finish the month in limbo, but is now back to being a Superintendent again.
I took a break from blogging and art, and still managed to have very little time to myself outside of work.
So basically that is what we did in November along with a few end of year school activities, a couple of concerts, choir and band tours and the usual dose of Scouting.

Another Update
By Alicia.R. | November 28, 2011
Mar is doing really well and the best news of all is that they got all of the cancer during her recent operation. Her skin graft is healing better than expected and she should be fully recovered by Christmas.
I have decided (as you may have noticed) that due to November being such a big month for our family that there won’t be any sketch challenges on my blog. Keep an eye out in December as things should be back to almost normal then.
I have heaps of photographs to share, but very little available time for editing and uploading at the moment.
Take care and see you all in December when I should be back to my normal routine (almost).
Mar Update
By Alicia.R. | November 12, 2011
Mum is back home in Gladstone with us tonight and she is doing well. The operation on Monday was a success, although we won’t know the full Pathology results until the end of next week. The Skin Graft is healing well and the area where it was removed from is doing really well too. Mum has done well with her recovery until they gave her some pain relief for the flight home (not her idea). Anyway she is here now and we are very happy to have her home. She will be living in our house of chaos for quite some time, and will be happy to have visitors and phone calls.
Saying Good-bye
By Alicia.R. | November 5, 2011
Today we attended a lovely service to say good-bye to my cherished and loved Great-Aunt Dory. Most of you will know how important a part of our lives she has been. Aunty Dory has been a special part of my life since the day I was born. She was the youngest sister of my maternal Grandmother, who passed away when I was three. Aunty Dory never once tried to replace her, but she definately made my life without her so much more bearable.
My children will dearly miss their precious Aunty Dory who they saw and spent time with regularly from the day each of them was born. The service was beautiful and of course ended with our family favourite “Amazing Grace”, which lead to a Chapel full of teary eyes.
We are all comforted by the fact that Aunty Dory is now with Uncle Stan after more than 40 years as a widow, and she will definately have some words/orders for him after all this time. Rest assured that she will also be keeping a close eye on the Cricket, Tennis and Politics from up above too!
Life is a Dream Canvas
By Alicia.R. | October 29, 2011
This is the Mixed Media Canvas that I have created and donated to the Silent Auction being held at the Scrapbook Fantasies Girls Night In Crop tonight.
I have used a lot of stuff – from watercolours to patterned papers to Copics, and everything in-between.
Second Art Journal Page
By Alicia.R. | October 25, 2011
This is my second Art Journal page and I am still really enjoying this new creative pursuit. I have used Neocolor 2′s on the background, Distress Stains for the hair and Prismacolor pencils for the portrait. I didn’t base this layout with Gesso, as I was so excited to get started that I didn’t take the time. It is also nice to experiment with the finish created with the Gesso.
The payoff of Art Journaling is that my Scrapbooking Class pages are flowing quicker and easier. I just needed an out for myself after creating a new Scrapbooking Class page every week for six months with only a one week break. I am also enjoying not facing the big blank canvas to create art.
She has the same squint that I do, which is a bit freaky since I don’t have red hair or green eyes.
My First Art Journal Page
By Alicia.R. | October 24, 2011
This is my first Art Journal page, and I had an absolute ball creating it. I have used white Gesso on the background with some Collections printed tissue paper on the double page in my new Milini Art Journal. The portrait is created using Prismacolor Pencils, Inktense Pencils and a touch of water. The background was created using Ranger Distress Ink Stains, and I love the way my patchy Gessoing created some interesting colour effects. Once again this is all part of the Supplies Me course that I am doing with Jane Davenport.
This is how it started:

Card Club Halloween Swap
By Alicia.R. | October 22, 2011
This is what my desk looked like on Tuesday night after a big creativity session making Naomi-Jon and my Halloween swap items for today at Scrapbook Fantasies.
This is my Haunted House Pencil Holder. I have used some Tim Holtz cutting dies and a lot of Ranger products to create the Haunted House as per Tim’s tag instructions on his Blog.
This is the Lantern Basket I made for Naomi-Jon to swap. The La-La Land stamp has been Copic coloured and paper pieced. The lantern basket is similar to the one featured in the Chocolate Dreams issue of the Magnolia Magazine.
